- Choosing tiles and mosaics for an eco-style bathroom
Where to start if you decide to stick to eco-style in your bathroom design? First of all, it is worth considering what materials you will use to finish it.

The eco-style mood is created by living plants, original wooden furniture and accessories made from natural materials. The best background for this is coatings in sand, terracotta and wood tones.

What materials to choose for finishing ↑
Ideally, eco-style involves the use of natural materials. It can be specially treated wood, bamboo, or stone. However, their good imitations in the form of laminate, porcelain stoneware or artificial stone are quite appropriate. You can also use traditional design for bathrooms - ceramic tiles, which need to be chosen correctly. An unconditional ban applies to the use of shiny and chrome-plated surfaces that do not occur in nature in decoration. The surfaces should be matte and, if possible, naturally rough. As a last resort, it is possible to use tiles with a light, so-called satin, sheen.
Wood and stone are the best materials for eco style
Finishing with facing tiles in eco-style invites you to forget about contrasting abstraction, complex monograms or imitation of noble marble. The interior should be dominated by soft flowing lines characteristic of natural nature, and not pretentious palace classics. In the cladding design, floral and plant scenes, half-tone blurred geometry, a thin strip or imitation of wild stone, wood or shell rock would be appropriate. A good solution is a plain, smooth surface without any pattern, which will become an excellent background for subsequent decoration.

Basic steps when creating an eco style
To get an eco-style bathroom, you need to follow 4 basic steps:
- choose tiles and other finishing materials;
- purchase accessories, furniture;
- decide on plumbing;
- complement the interior with stylish items.
The bathroom walls are finished with ceramic tiles. In eco style, tiles are also chosen, but here you should forget about glossy shine or metallic effect. Matte options should be preferred, and it is better if they imitate any voluminous materials with roughness. Porcelain stoneware, natural (artificial) stone or specially treated wood are also suitable for wall decoration.
When choosing tiles, you don’t even need to look in the direction of a variety of pretentious tones and patterns a la “palace luxury”. Blurry geometric abstraction, soft halftones, plant or floral hints - these are what you should be interested in when choosing an eco style. It is better if the tile pattern imitates shell rock, wood, or stone. The color should be as neutral as possible, greenish, light yellow, bluish, or soft brown. Various marine motifs in no way relate to eco-style.
Once the finishing is done, there is no need to spoil everything with the wrong choice of furniture. No avant-garde, gilding, carved legs or polished surfaces. Everything should be as simple and concise as possible. Wicker, wooden sets in country style or reminiscent of ascetic Japan are ideal for eco style. An abundance of mirror surfaces is also not welcome, but it is better to abandon them altogether in favor of one large mirror. There should be little furniture so that the space remains as free as possible.

The style requires the use of only natural colors. These can be shades of gray, brown, sand, blue and green. Moreover, it is better to choose the latter in a tone closer to yellow. Translucent light colors will look very good: ivory, beige, ecru, biscuit, sand and cream.
They will be complemented by more saturated shades from the same neutral color palette or caramel, nut, coffee and greens. Bright red-brown and dark brown are quite appropriate in an eco-friendly interior, but their use must be justified. This presupposes the presence of a fairly large colored “spot”, for example, a door, and several small accessories “supporting” it. These could be towels, a ceramic vase or box.
Natural colors are a priority for eco-style interiors
Floor
Ceramic parquet is ideal for finishing an eco-friendly bathroom. It has the beauty of natural wood and is at the same time resistant to moisture and detergents.

It will simply fit perfectly into an eco-friendly interior. An interesting solution is plumbing fixtures made of cast mineral stone. The material perfectly imitates almost any texture from marble to pebbles.
A wooden bathtub is the best choice for an eco-friendly interior
The prefix “eco” obliges you to choose special equipment. Appliances should be energy efficient whenever possible. This applies to both lamps and plumbing fixtures. It is worth paying attention to dual flush toilets, which can significantly save water. They are designed for simultaneous release of 7-8 liters of water, while traditional models usually release 9-12 liters, which is not always justified. You can also find water-saving faucets on sale. Such devices allow you to create a genuine eco-style, and not its imitation.

Selection of accessories, equipment, lighting
Eco style is characterized by a variety of items that best suit the natural theme. These can be mats, various panels on the walls, fragmentary decoration with large stones (panels), artificial vines or nets imitating ivy thickets, a mosaic of shells, large tall floor vases with artificial plants or specially treated dead wood. A palm tree, tree trunk or small wicker chair “hidden” in the corner would be perfect.
Eco-style lovers very often choose an appropriate bathroom. For the most part, it has a round shape and is installed in the middle, finished with natural wood, mosaic or stone. It can also imitate a wooden barrel, a bowl-shaped bathhouse, or resemble a canoe or hammock in shape. The washbasin should have the same round, streamlined shape. But the lamps should not be noticeable.
No chandeliers, bulky wall sconces, or gilded lampshades hanging from the ceiling. It is better if the light sources are disguised so that it is unclear where the light is coming from.
